A team from the IIT Bombay brought home the prestigious “Nan Pao Resin Zero Carbon Award” at the International Net Zero Tech Competition 2024, organized by National Taiwan University (NTU) and the TECO Technology Foundation. Competing against 130 teams from 31 countries, the IITB team was the sole representative from India at the event.
The team consisted of:
- Mr. Anuj (Dual Degree student, Department of Energy Science and Engineering – DESE)
- Ms. Nikita (PhD student, Chemistry and Monash-IITB research partnership)
- Mr. Dipin (PhD student, Chemistry)
- Prof. Sandip Saha (Department of Mechanical Engineering)
- Prof. C. Subramaniam (Department of Chemistry)
The students were at the forefront of the project, presenting and demonstrating the innovative technology developed at IIT Bombay aimed at achieving net zero carbon goals, a key target set by the UN and several countries worldwide.
The “Nan Pao Resin Zero Carbon Award” recognizes teams with disruptive potential in reaching net zero carbon targets. IIT Bombay’s cutting-edge innovation and prototypes, which focused on water purification and space heating with the lowest carbon footprint, impressed the judges and earned the team this distinguished honour.
This victory underscores IIT Bombay’s commitment to advancing sustainable technology and reinforces its role as a global leader in the race to achieve net zero carbon emissions. It highlights the Institute’s dedication to nurturing exceptional talent and providing students and faculty with the resources and support to drive innovation in critical areas like sustainability.
