IIT Bombay is gearing up to host the 3^rd edition of its highly anticipated Annual CSR Conclave on June 14, 2024. The theme of this year’s Conclave is “Unlocking CSR for Impactful Research.” The event promises to be a dynamic platform for thought leaders, innovators, and industry experts to converge and explore the transformative potential of collaborative innovation. It will leverage the power of CSR and corporate philanthropy to fuel research endeavours and technology breakthroughs that benefit both society and the nation.

Joining the Conclave this year will be IITB’s Distinguished Alumnus and Chief Guest, Mr. Adil Zainulbhai (B.Tech., Mechanical Engineering, 1977), Chairman, Capacity Building Commission, Government of India (established in 2021 to enhance the Indian Civil Service). He previously chaired the Quality Council of India and retired as Chairman of McKinsey India in 2014, after 34 years with the firm. Mr. Zainulbhai has worked with major global CEOs, co-edited the bestselling book ‘Reimagining India,’ serves on the boards of Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Network18, Cipla, and the Piramal Foundation, and chairs the Board of Governors at IIT Ropar. His insights are sure to enrich discussions and inspire innovative approaches to CSR partnerships.

In line with the theme of the conclave, the Conclave will host Panel Discussions featuring industry experts, CSR, and corporate leaders, including:

Theme 1: Impact Of Corporate Partnerships through CSR to Advance Research in Areas of Technology

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has evolved beyond traditional philanthropy into a strategic approach where organisations are driving research and technology initiatives through strategic partnerships with Higher Education Institutes. This panel discussion aims to provide a comprehensive understanding for fostering a collaborative environment, where new ideas and strategies can emerge to fuel technological innovations for the progress of society and the nation.

Theme 2: Simplifying Decisions on CSR Partnerships with Academia

In today’s business landscape, CSR has evolved from a peripheral activity to a central strategic function. Partnerships with academic institutions can provide valuable research, innovative solutions to achieve impactful CSR outcomes. However, making boardroom decisions regarding such partnerships can be complex and daunting. This panel discussion aims to simplify the decision-making process for board members and executives considering CSR partnerships with academia.

In addition to panel discussions, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the latest innovations from IIT Bombay’s faculty members, scholars, researchers, and students at the Tech Showcase. This showcase will feature potential solutions to pressing societal challenges, demonstrating the institute’s commitment to translating research into impactful outcomes.

This catalogue provides detailed information on ongoing projects and opportunities for partnerships, aiming to foster collaboration and transparency. It enables stakeholders to engage effectively with IIT Bombay’s CSR initiatives.

Finally, the Conclave will host a ceremony recognising its Leading Partner Organisations. The ceremony will celebrate their exceptional contributions to societal well-being and recognise the profound impact of philanthropy on research projects, innovation, and the adoption of cutting-edge, disruptive technologies.
