As part of the National Supercomputing Mission, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) will be deploying a supercomputing system at IIT Bombay. To that end, Col. A.K. Nath (Retd.), Executive Director, C-DAC, Pune, and Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay, signed an agreement for the same.
The National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) is approved by the Government of India to attain self-reliance in supercomputing and problem-solving in various domains of scientific and technological endeavours.
The supercomputing system at IIT Bombay will cater to the computational needs of the Institute, as well as various research and engineering institutes in the region.
The system will come with a peak computing power of 3 PF and is based on Direct Contact Liquid Cooling technology to achieve high power usage effectiveness and also reduce its carbon footprint. The system will enable scientists and researchers to tackle complex computational problems beyond traditional computing systems’ capabilities.
