IIT Bombay signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google India to establish a Chair Professorship in Generative AI, to be called the ‘Google Cloud Chair.’ The term ‘Chair’ is one of the highest honours awarded in the academic domain and is generally bestowed to the top faculty members at IIT Bombay as an acknowledgment of their contributions to research and teaching.

Google India, as part of its CSR initiatives, will sponsor the Chair Professorship to foster research, strengthen collaborations, and drive academic advancements at the Institute. The appointee will develop and enhance courses, collaborate with Google, and provide leadership in their field. Evaluation criteria for the Chair’s impact will be jointly determined by Google and IIT Bombay.

As generative AI evolves, its influence on technology and society increases concurrently. IIT Bombay is determined to lead from the front in the AI revolution, and Google India’s endowment plays a crucial role in achieving this goal.
