IIT Bombay Partners with the Government of Maharashtra for Technology-Driven Solutions

IIT Bombay’s GISE Hub formalized a new partnership with the Government of Maharashtra (GoM) represented by YASHADA by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Mantralaya, Mumbai. This strategic collaboration aims to align IIT Bombay’s research and consultancy projects with key government initiatives under a dedicated program.

Prof. Sachin Patwardhan, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Bombay, and Mr. N. K. Sudhansu, Director General of YASHADA, signed the MOU. Also present during the occasion were:

  • Ms. Sujata Saunik, Chief Secretary
  • Prof. Milind Atrey, IIT Bombay’s Deputy Director for Academics, Research, and Translation,
  • Other distinguished attendees from both the GoM and YASHADA including:
    Prof. Sarthak Gaurav from SJMSOM and PI GISE Hub,
    – Mr. Sumit Sen
    – Ms. V. Radha, Additional Chief Secretary of GAD.

The MOU establishes a framework for developing innovative, technology-driven solutions for various government departments, while also fostering capacity building through fellowships, training programs, and open learning initiatives, including Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).

This collaboration marks a significant step towards harnessing IIT Bombay’s expertise for impactful governance solutions in Maharashtra. IIT Bombay has consistently been at the forefront of research, innovation, and technology that shape not only industries but also the governance and infrastructure of the nation. By aligning its research with government initiatives, IIT Bombay is poised to drive transformative change, offering scalable solutions that address real-world challenges and continue to play a pivotal role in advancing technology solutions that create lasting impact in Maharashtra.
